ROTATIONAL MOLDING PROCESS

molding processRotational molding is a process best suited for manufacturing hollow items. This process offers several advantages over other, more familiar molding systems, such as injection, thermoforming or blow molding. In some cases pieces virtually impossible to mold with other processes can be produced by rotational molding. The following will be helpful to those of you who are not familiar with rotational molding:

ADVANTAGES OF THE ROTATIONAL MOLDING PROCESS

1) End product is seamless and stress-free one-piece construction

2) Uniform wall thickness, without thinning in corners

3) Relatively low tooling cost, allowing short production runs for prototype research or custom designed products

4) Short lead time from design stage to production

5) The ability to increase or decrease the wall thickness for added strength or flexibility: 1/32″ to 1″

6) Can produce double wall construction for greater strength

7) The ability to economically mold a wide variety of colors in small quantities
